More Options, More Hope: Cycle for Cancer Research that Saves Lives

The global cancer burden continues to increase with estimates of 19.3 million new cancer cases and 10 million cancer deaths worldwide in 2020 (International Agency for Research on Cancer). In Singapore, cancer is the number one cause of death, accounting for almost 1 in 3 deaths in the total population. As life expectancy grows, cancer is becoming an increasingly serious health problem and action must be taken to reduce the burden of this disease.

The world stands at the cusp of a transformational period in fundamental, translational and clinical research on cancer – what we call 'the end of the beginning' for cancer research. The past two decades have witnessed a revolution in the understanding of fundamental biology of cancer cells. The faculty, research staff and students who work at CSI Singapore, NCIS and N2CR are proud to be active members of a vibrant global research community, and to have made significant contributions in reaching ‘the end of the beginning’. However, the work is not over. Research is a continuous effort, and it is vital that research funding continues to achieve the goal of accelerating 'the beginning of the end' for cancer.

In support of this, CSI Singapore, NCIS and N2CR are jointly organising CanCycle 2023, a cyclethon fundraiser to raise funds and awareness for the research work done in the lab that will ultimately translate to better care and treatment for cancer patients.

Let's team up for cancer research! Join us by getting out your bicycles and cycling for cancer. We hope to bring together over 500 people to join us in this virtual cycling challenge, with friends and family to champion healthy living for all.

In the spirit of giving, we ask you to donate to the cause, where 100% of proceeds from CanCycle 2023 will go towards life-saving cancer research, to support technological advancements and efficacious treatments with less side effects.
